June 5-8, 2023

How do we only have 14 days together? It is crazy to think summer is so close. This week, the patrollers enjoyed attending the Patrol Picnic at Heritage Park. There will be an opportunity for students to express their interest in joining coming shortly. Aside from spending the day in the sun, this week we:

-Examined different soil samples, looking at colour, texture, etc. There is a science test on Monday.

-Talked about the executive branch in the provincial government, learning about the different roles/responsibilities.

-Continued our work on our Multi-Genre Project. Rough version to be finished Tuesday, June 13th.

-Played kickball outside, showing amazing sportsmanship!

-Completed our figurative language stations.

-Read more from Danny Day's Double Life.

-Grade 6 math worked on decimal place value and calculating numbers with decimals.

-Roa math has been working with 2D shapes, focusing on vocabulary of vertice, edge, face.

-Copithorne math has started their work on probability.

The next Provincial Exam will be on June 20th. There is a lot of review material in the Google Classroom. We will also be reviewing in class.

Library book exchange has now ended for the year. Please bring a book from home for Read to Self.

Parents of Grade 6 students-Their farewell assembly will be June 28th at 1:30pm. This is for grade 6 families only. We will be serving refreshments afterwards.

Finally, yes, it is true, after 12 years at University School, I will be saying goodbye at the end of June. I have accepted a Grade 5 teaching position at Douglasdale School, beginning in the 2023-24 school year. As excited as I am to be closer to home and to begin a new adventure, it is difficult to leave my amazing colleagues and families I have had the privilege to know and work with.

Enjoy the sunshine!
