 November 14-18, 2022 I was so happy to get back to school after being away sick. I really missed the kids! We have started new units in Social and Science that have us all really excited. This week we: -Started sky science by listening to a legend about the moon and sun, and learning about objects that emit and reflect light. We added these along with the words rotate, revolve, revolution and orbit to our visual dictionaries.  -Continued to learn about the roles in Ancient Athens and were assigned a specific individual to write about a day in the life of this person. -Learned how to use Jamboard in the Google Classroom. -Completed our storyboards for our fractured fairy tales and graphed out our plot line to ensure we have rising action (have you ever graphed a story?) -Learned about how to properly use dialogue in stories so we can make sure we are using it correctly in our fractured fairy tales. -Worked on our basketball skills, particularly focusing on passing. We have had a lot of fun this week outside in the snow! I'm hoping with the upcoming forecast, we can get outside and have some snow building challenges! Today, you should have received an email from your child about the highlights of school this past month. They are really excited to email and love receiving replys! This week we: -Welcomed Mr. Ikenouye to our classroom. He is completing his final teaching practicum at the University of Calgary. He will be with us until mid December and then again from February to April. -Started basketball in gym. -Worked on our Pillars of Democracy Project (due Monday if not already finished). -Talked about Forest Management plans and how to keep Alberta's forests sustainable. -Continued to work on multiplication and division in all math groups. -Looked at mentor texts of fairy tales and developed criteria of makes a fairy tale. We also explored fractured fairy tales (fairy tales with a twist). Next week, we will start planning our own fractu
