October 16-21, 2022

This week we came together as a whole school for Take Me Outside Day. We partnered up with our buddies from Mrs. Gibson and Mrs. Smith's classes and explored the land that surrounds our community. Students were excited to share afterwards about their afternoon and the fun they had with their buddy.

Aside from Take Me Outside Day, this week we:

-Learned about how to use a tree cookie to identify the age and growing conditions of a tree.

-Celebrated our first stories of the year by sharing them with our classmates.

-Explored the 3 levels of government and the services they offer citizens.

-Practiced different ways to start sentences to challenge ourselves as writers.

-Grade 6's completed an escape room on greatest common factors and lowest common multiples.

-Grade 5's practiced different multiplication strategies, looking for ways to be efficient.

-Used our "close reading strategies" to find evidence in text to answer questions.

-Looked at making tough choices and how our choices have consequences in Health. We even watched a bit of Kid President https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdsCUExLE-Y

-Visited the medicine wheel at the Children's Hosptial on our Monday walk, taking time to notice and reflect in our journals.
